My participation in the Nigeria Capital Market over 15 years ago is paying off. I have failed and won but most especially I have learnt, unlearn, and relearn. Truly “An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.” - Benjamin Franklin.

I could remember when I decided to do this that fateful day. I dress up smartly and head straight to the NSE building knocking at one stock brokering firm after another looking for the opportunity to practically learn how to invest in stocks and fortunately I got the chance. That was 2003 after a triple to Nigeria Stock Exchange as a final year student and as a team lead to organise a workshop for the student on the same subject matter.

I went ahead prepared with some money to start my first purchase (investment) and since I knew little to nothing on how to decide on the company to put my money for whatever returns (dividend, capital gain, and or bonus), I requested for their recommendation with little or no question believing they are expert in that field. Are stockbrokers expert in capital market investment?

In a few months later, I learnt their recommendation was based on the declaration of dividend by the company without considering buying at the top price. That was my first lesson, learning the hard way.

Today, I am aware I can invest for dividend, capital gain and bonus and possibly earn the three at the same time with proper targeting.

While I buy the idea of investing for a long term, my ideology of long term investment in company shares is not based on waiting forever to receive dividend and bonus because I am not there yet, there is time for every, in other words, learning how to take gain from capital gain work best for me.

The World of Digital Stock Trading and Investment

In the past buying and selling of shares in the Nigeria Stock Exchange market require your presence. You have to fill a form, sign this and that as an order instructing your stockbroker to buy on your behalf or transfer units of shares from your investment to another person. That makes it a little tedious to what we have today.

Introducing Wealth.ng

By the way, have you heard about www.wealth.ng, a product of WealthTech Limited (RC 1547536), an affiliate of Sankore Securities Limited. With www.wealth.ng investing in the capital market is becoming interesting as the rigorous exercise that can become an excuse or lead to delay in decision making is now the thing of the past.

With their platform, you don’t have to physical fill and sign form to buy and sell your stocks, it will be done digitally via their mobile or web application.

This opportunity made possible by digital technology is given investors to take a prompt decision and to make more money.

Using Stock Investment as a Gift

One more interesting part of the platform I love most is the gift shop. No! Not the regular gift shop you know. Their kind of gift shop is buying investment as a gift for someone even if the person has never invested in the capital market before nor have an account with them. Once you do your part by paying for the investment, they will alert the bearer on your behalf via SMS and email to claim the investment.

There is Receipt for All your Payment

They have a receipt for all your transactions and initiate your order promptly. Through the platform you can invest in Treasury Bills, Stocks, Bonds, Eurobonds, Agriculture, Wealth Cash and other assets available.

Digital Banking

You can choose to save your money with them as cash balance when you are not ready to reinvest. Not just that, they have the license to operate digital bank allowed you to earn interest while your money is with them.

You don’t have to ignore this because you lack the knowledge, remember, I learnt it as well and you can too. You can choose to learn how to do it yourself (study and forecast which company to invest) or subscribe to our trade alert via Whatsapp: https://bit.ly/empowermitecontact
